Pet Tales Rescue is a network of fosters and volunteers that work to find the perfect homes for animals in need.

Our cats and dogs are housed in foster homes and treated like family. This gives us the advantage of getting to know each one as an individual; once we have an understanding of their specific personality and needs, we can find them the perfect home!

Meet Ziti & Cocoa – The Purrfect Pair! Ziti and Cocoa are a sweet and spunky bonded duo looking for their forever home together. Ziti (born April 1, 2024) is a beautiful tawny tabby with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She had a rough start in life—diagnosed with FIP when she first arrived—but thanks to a breakthrough treatment, she’s now healthy, thriving, and ready for her next chapter! Ziti is the boss lady of the pair: confident, extremely social, and never one to hide. She’s a lap-lover who soaks up affection, though she prefers not to be picked up. She’s also a little chatterbox and won’t hesitate to let you know when she wants love or playtime. Cocoa (born November 2, 2024) is a gorgeous tortoiseshell who came from a crowded home and didn’t get the socialization she needed as a kitten. At first, she’s the quiet observer when meeting new people—but once she feels safe, her sweetness shines through. She’s made huge progress in foster care, and now LOVES pets, even venturing onto her foster mom’s lap for snuggles. With time, patience, and treats, Cocoa will blossom into a devoted companion. Together, these girls balance each other perfectly—Ziti’s boldness helps Cocoa feel secure, and Cocoa’s gentle nature softens Ziti’s spice. They adore playing with toys, chasing each other around, and curling up together after a good romp. Ziti and Cocoa would do best in a home without other cats or dogs, where they can be the center of attention. Older children would be best. They are both spayed, microchipped, and FIV/FeLV negative. If you’re looking for a pair of playful, affectionate, and deeply bonded girls who will bring both fun and love into your life, Ziti and Cocoa are the duo for you! Lars

Lars
LarsLarsLarsLarsLarsLars

Meet Lars! A Snowshoe Siamese who has blue eyes and the quirkiest personality. In March of 2025, Lars was found outside living in the woods behind his finder's home who happened to notice him out there. He was so friendly, they started letting him stay in their garage at night for safety and warmth. They wanted to keep him, but their resident cats weren't allowing it. So, they reached out and he has been safe in our rescue since. Lars came to us with some large wounds on his front legs and eye area. It is thought he got them from taking refuge in a woodpile and crawling in and out through a small hole. These wounds were taking a while to heal because they itched, and he just wouldn't leave them alone. After a few months and a few visits to the vet for medications, these sores have healed up nicely. All his hair is grown back in and he looks so beautiful. He is also polydactyl on his front paws (extra toes!) and has a weird toenail on his back foot that just kinda hangs there. The vet says it fine though! Lars took to his foster family really well, his unique personality took a few months to come out. He needs to get to know you and you to know him. Lars definitely lets you know what he does and doesn't like such as when and where to pet him. At first he was separated from the resident cats until his wounds healed and then he was integrated in with them. It was an adjustment but after some time, they are fine together. He has really attached himself to his Foster Mom, he sleeps with her and follows her around. Lars is mellow and likes to relax but he will occasionally play with his string toys. He will come and lay right on your lap if you're sitting or he'll just want to be alone. Lars loves being part of the family and doesn't like to be separated from everyone, he never tries to get out the doors to go outside. Food is something Lars really enjoys and looks forward to, especially his wet food. We have him on a sensitive skin & stomach variety which seems to help with his skin issue. So far he seems to be doing well with it. This means his food may be a bit more costly (medium range) than the normal varieties, but he's worth it. He is also taking a medication right now, but he may not need it forever. His vet thinks he may have a food allergy, but it is still unknown. Lars' estimated birthday is 3/3/22. He has also been tested and is positive for FIV. If you don't know about FIV, it is really nothing to be alarmed about. Many cats live healthy long lives with this diagnosis. They can also be around other cats as it's not spread through litterboxes, dishes, etc., only deep bite wounds which usually happen between outdoor feral cats. Some cats contract this from birth through the mother. As long as Lars is kept inside and healthy, he should be just fine. Cats with FIV don't have as good of an immune system as cats without it. And this may have contributed some to his wounds healing a bit slower. FIV+ cats are just as deserving of a safe, loving home as any other cat. Lars is a very loyal, intelligent cat and will no doubt be a joy to anyone who gives him the attention he desires. He has also been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Lars would enjoy an adult home with people who are home alot. He's around teenage kids in his foster home and a very small child but he doesn't enjoy being picked on by small children. He may be okay with another feline friend, but he does seem to want to be boss at times. He has not been tested around dogs. The Siamese is a special breed. If you don't know anything about this breed, I would highly encourage you to do some reading about them if you are interested in adopting him or another Siamese. Lars is one of those cats you just can't help but fall in love with! To meet Lars, please apply at pettalesrescue.com View full description »

Honey

Honey
HoneyHoneyHoneyHoneyHoneyHoney

Meet Honey! Honey is a tan and white mixed breed, born on 5/9/2025 and weighs 20 lbs. She is expected to be medium to large size when full grown. She had a little bit of a rough start to life, being adopted at just 6 weeks old into a large family, where she learned to protect herself, she needed to use her sharp little teeth. This resulted in being surrendered to the shelter at just 12 weeks old and being frightened of small children. Since coming to her foster home, Honey has learned people can be kind. With a little bit of training, kisses and cuddles, she is doing great! She can be a little shy at first, and likes to greet guests at her own pace, but once she warms up to you, she will be your best friend for life! Honey would do good in a home with an experienced adopter, and kids who are old enough to understand how to act respectfully with a dog. She gets along great with other dogs, is crate trained, working on and doing good with potty training, has mastered 'sit' and eager to learn more, especially if treats are involved. Honey is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and ready to find her forever home! To meet Honey, please apply at pettalesrescue.com View full description »

Pet overpopulation leads to thousands of unnecessary deaths each year.

We are involved in our communities to not only raise awareness but to be a resource and to help educate in a positive way.

The Pet Tales Journey

1. Rescue

When we’re contacted about an animal in need, we work quickly to determine the best course of action. If that course means coming into our rescue, we mobilize right away to secure the animal and place it safely within a foster home.

4. Sterilization

Spaying and neutering is something we feel very strongly about here at Pet Tales. EVERY animal we take in is fixed (sterilized) prior to finding their new home. We work hard to educate our community about the benefits of neutering their pet, and we believe this type of education is key to reducing pet overpopulation and overall shelter numbers.

2. Foster

Once we’ve successfully placed the pet within a foster home, the road to adoption begins! Their new foster will make sure they’re comfortable, clean, and given ample decompression time. From there, the foster will evaluate their personality and assess their specific needs.

5. Find a Home

The best part of all! Once our foster pets are ready mentally and medically, we begin the process of finding them the perfect forever-home. This begins with potential adopters filling out our online application. Once we have screened the applicant and determined whether their lifestyle seems like a good fit for the desired animal, we set up a meet and greet. If the meetup is successful and both parties are in agreement about adopting the pet, we finalize the adoption!

3. Screening & Treatment

We waste no time having new foster animals seen by a veterinarian! They are thoroughly checked over, tested for various ailments (such as parasites or heartworm), and vaccinated appropriately.

6. Follow Up Support

When you adopt a pet from us, you are NEVER alone! Our ultimate goal is to unite our fosters with their perfect family, and for them to spend a lifetime together. To ensure this goal is met, we will provide continuous support and advice whenever needed, for the life of your pet.

Happy Tales

“This is my little girl Vera. I adopted her from Pet Tales in April 2019. She had the same rough start that Luna had. Pet Tales took great care of her. She had many teeth removed and also one eye. She is spoiled rotten and I love her so much.”

– Pat Clark-Saur

“This is Rozie. We rescued her 5 years ago from Pet Tales. She is the sweetest dog we have ever had. At 1 year old she became part of a pet therapy group called Pet A Pet. We primarily go to Beaumont Hospital – Taylor, MI. She loves visiting the patients. We have been so blessed to have this sweet girl as part of our family. Thank you to Pet Tales for all of the hard work you put into rescuing these animals.”

– Jenny King Baugh

“Our Sweet Peanut….adopted this past summer (2020). An amazingly sweet girl, who loves any and all attention. She has completed our little family more than we could have ever hoped! Thank you so much, Pet Tales for our sweet girl”

– Kevin & Becky Thompson

Pet Tales Rescue was established in 2010…

By people who had spent several years volunteering with other rescues. They decided to take their many years of knowledge and experience out on their own to help find homes for abused and abandoned pets. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes that will provide the love, companionship, and quality care that every animal deserves.
