Pet Tales Rescue is a network of fosters and volunteers that work to find the perfect homes for animals in need.

Our cats and dogs are housed in foster homes and treated like family. This gives us the advantage of getting to know each one as an individual; once we have an understanding of their specific personality and needs, we can find them the perfect home!

Our mission is to match pets with their perfect forever family.

Love

Love
LoveLoveLoveLove

It’s go time! Fast as lightening, Love darts around obstacles running and lapping others as she wins first place. When Love gets the zoomies, she is fast! Then she darts around, tumbles into a summersault, and runs into the nearest lap, looking fondly up at you and beginning to purr. Just like her name says, she is a lover. If that doesn’t convince you just check out the heart that is on the front of her head. Love is a female orange cat and was born around the end of April. She and her brother, Creamsicle, were taken from a house in Delton, Michigan due to the fear of harm to them. They were brought into Pet Tales Rescue and were bottle fed by our household. Bottle feeders are exposed to humans at a young age so they have wonderful connections with humans at a young age. We try to set our kittens up to be successful following their adoption. Therefore, we make sure our kittens are litter box proficient, know how to use scratching posts and know to refrain from visiting countertops and kitchen tables. They live with our family full time within our household and are exposed to children, adults, cats and lots of love and attention on a daily basis. With proper introductions, dogs shouldn't be an issue either. Love is spayed, age-appropriately vaccinated, microchipped, and FIV/ FeLV negative. As soon as you pick Creamsicle up, he purrs. He loves to cuddle at night, but be careful to not roll over on him because he will find a perfect spot right by you. When he wakes up, he loves to slowly open his eyes up to pets and then begins his day by darting in and out of tunnels while still keeping an eye on you. Creamsicle is a male orange tabby cat and was born around the end of April. He and his sister, Love, were taken from a house in Delton, Michigan due to the fear of harm to them. They were brought into Pet Tales Rescue and were bottle fed by our household. Bottle feeders are exposed to humans at a young age so they have wonderful connections with humans. Zander-perfect gentleman, great with kids

Name: Zander (a.k.a. Zanny boi, zandman, zan zan , Z)?Breed: Pitbull Mix?Age: 1-2 Years, mildly mature (but still zoomie-certified) ?Neutered: Yes?Dog/Kid Friendly: Absolutely! I love making new friends! Bio:?Hi, I’m Zander — a 50 pound love bug and your soon-to-be personal shadow. Wherever you go, I go. Bathroom? I’m there. Kitchen? I’m already sitting behind you hoping you drop cheese. Bedroom? Please reserve the spot directly on top of you — that’s my preferred sleeping arrangement. I’m what you might call a “perfect gentleman,” if that gentleman were forcibly snuggly, food-obsessed, and just slightly dramatic when asked to walk on wet grass (the horror!). I love playing fetch, running around like a goofball, and going on walks — especially the kind that end in snacks. Speaking of snacks… did I mention I’m very food motivated? Because I’m VERY food motivated. I’m kennel trained (even if I give you the sad eyes when I go in), and I know how to be a good boy around both two-legged and four-legged friends. My dislikes include: being told "no" (rude), and damp turf — I’ll tiptoe like I’m walking on lava. But otherwise? I'm easy breezy and full of love. Want to walk? Consider it done! I don’t pull, and I’ll even stop and sit at cross walks while we look both ways. Looking for a loyal, snuggly, snack-loving shadow? I'm your guy. Come meet me — I promise to follow you home and never leave your side. If interested in meeting Zander, please fill out the online application at www.pettalesrescue.com to set up a meet and greet. His adoption fee is $300, payable in cash, Venmo, credit or Debit View full description »

Rocky

Rocky
RockyRockyRockyRockyRocky

COURTESY POST Meet Rocky! Rocky is a sweet, scruffy little gentleman who’s been through a lot but is showing incredible resilience. He came into rescue with his sister Angel after their beloved owner passed away. While they’d love to be adopted together, it’s not required—what matters most is a loving, stable home. At about 7 years old, Rocky didn’t know much when he first arrived and was clearly stressed, but in just 5 weeks he’s made great strides. He’s learning to trust, relax, and enjoy life again. A quiet home would be ideal for him, and since he was especially bonded with a man in his previous life, that may be something to consider. Rocky hasn’t been exposed to kids or cats, and he’s still working on feeling comfortable around other dogs—but he’s making steady progress with time and patience. He was born blind in one eye, but it doesn’t slow him down a bit! This lovable little guy is fully vetted and ready for his fresh start. Rocky is proof that with love and a bit of time, hearts can heal. A $100 rehoming fee applies. If Angel and Rocky can be adopted together, the total fee is $150. Please call or text Kathy, Angel's foster, directly at 616-850-0500 View full description »

Pet overpopulation leads to thousands of unnecessary deaths each year.

We are involved in our communities to not only raise awareness but to be a resource and to help educate in a positive way.

The Pet Tales Journey

1. Rescue

When we’re contacted about an animal in need, we work quickly to determine the best course of action. If that course means coming into our rescue, we mobilize right away to secure the animal and place it safely within a foster home.

4. Sterilization

Spaying and neutering is something we feel very strongly about here at Pet Tales. EVERY animal we take in is fixed (sterilized) prior to finding their new home. We work hard to educate our community about the benefits of neutering their pet, and we believe this type of education is key to reducing pet overpopulation and overall shelter numbers.

2. Foster

Once we’ve successfully placed the pet within a foster home, the road to adoption begins! Their new foster will make sure they’re comfortable, clean, and given ample decompression time. From there, the foster will evaluate their personality and assess their specific needs.

5. Find a Home

The best part of all! Once our foster pets are ready mentally and medically, we begin the process of finding them the perfect forever-home. This begins with potential adopters filling out our online application. Once we have screened the applicant and determined whether their lifestyle seems like a good fit for the desired animal, we set up a meet and greet. If the meetup is successful and both parties are in agreement about adopting the pet, we finalize the adoption!

3. Screening & Treatment

We waste no time having new foster animals seen by a veterinarian! They are thoroughly checked over, tested for various ailments (such as parasites or heartworm), and vaccinated appropriately.

6. Follow Up Support

When you adopt a pet from us, you are NEVER alone! Our ultimate goal is to unite our fosters with their perfect family, and for them to spend a lifetime together. To ensure this goal is met, we will provide continuous support and advice whenever needed, for the life of your pet.

Happy Tales

“This is my little girl Vera. I adopted her from Pet Tales in April 2019. She had the same rough start that Luna had. Pet Tales took great care of her. She had many teeth removed and also one eye. She is spoiled rotten and I love her so much.”

– Pat Clark-Saur

“This is Rozie. We rescued her 5 years ago from Pet Tales. She is the sweetest dog we have ever had. At 1 year old she became part of a pet therapy group called Pet A Pet. We primarily go to Beaumont Hospital – Taylor, MI. She loves visiting the patients. We have been so blessed to have this sweet girl as part of our family. Thank you to Pet Tales for all of the hard work you put into rescuing these animals.”

– Jenny King Baugh

“Our Sweet Peanut….adopted this past summer (2020). An amazingly sweet girl, who loves any and all attention. She has completed our little family more than we could have ever hoped! Thank you so much, Pet Tales for our sweet girl”

– Kevin & Becky Thompson

Pet Tales Rescue was established in 2010…

By people who had spent several years volunteering with other rescues. They decided to take their many years of knowledge and experience out on their own to help find homes for abused and abandoned pets. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes that will provide the love, companionship, and quality care that every animal deserves.
