Nigel

Coonhound - Pointer - Adult - Male
Adoptable Large Spayed/NeuteredUp-to-date with routine shotshousetrained

Nigel is an approximately 9 year old Coonhound/Pointer mix. He was found as a stray and came to Pet Tales Rescue from a shelter in January 2018. Nigel was extremely underweight, had a severe ear infection, and was heartworm positive. After treatments for his ear were unsuccessful, a mass was found in the ear canal and Nigel was diagnosed with cancer. Due to his poor health and the extreme nature of treating cancer in the ear canal, Nigel was put on Hospice status. His foster family committed to providing all the love Nigel could handle in this last stage of his life.

However, Nigel had different plans! He continued to put on weight, fought through treatment of an eye ulcer, and after several months he was officially declared cancer free! Nigel has since been neutered and completed heart worm treatment. He loves the two dogs and two older kids in his foster home but has not been exposed to cats.

Because Nigel was so focused on healing, he will need to work on learning to walk calmly on a leash. He is the sweetest old gentleman who loves nothing more than snuggling on the couch. His goofy smile is contagious, and his long legs can be a bit awkward, both of which just add to his charm. Nigel enjoys food, treats, bones, hanging out in his crate, and receiving kisses and thigh massages. He is housebroken and weighs about 72 lbs.

Nigel is available for adoption through Pet Tales Rescue in Grand Rapids, MI. Please go to www.pettalesrescue.com and fill out an application. His adoption fee is $125 payable by cash or card through the rescue’s website.

* Pet Tales Rescue does not have a physical shelter location as all of our pets are in foster homes. To meet Nigel or one of our other animals, you will need to fill out an application. After your application is reviewed, one of our volunteers will contact you to set up a time to meet the pet.

Thank you for adopting, not shopping!
