Black Mouth Cur - Adult - Female
Adoptable Medium Spayed/NeuteredUp-to-date with routine shotshousetrained

Meet Dawn-our sweet foster dog, who has overcome health and trust issues and transformed before our eyes, since her rescue day in March 2018! Dawn is a Black Mouth Cur, a popular southern breed and estimated at around two years old.

Surrendered by her prior owner, Dawn gave birth in an Alabama shelter. She came to Michigan malnourished with scars of misuse, lost her whole litter due to infection, and endured three months of limited activity, while undergoing heart-worm treatment.

She is now a healthy and active 55-lb girl who is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready for her furever home!
After investing time and patience, this girl went from a scared pup that was hesitant to anyone touching her to loving belly rubs, walking on leash, learning commands (trains easy), using stairs, walking on wood floors, and running in snow. She’s housebroken and crate trained.

When meeting new people, Dawn can be shy and a little stand-offish, but you’ll never meet a more loving and loyal companion, who enjoys being with you and laying at your feet.
She’s playful, likes ‘fetch,’ and toys she can nuzzle. For comfort (ex. bedtime or when crated), she likes to hold small stuffed animals (but she’ll tear apart larger ones). Dawn enjoys playing with other dogs and seems to miss her ‘pack,’ not sure about cats.

Dawn would probably do best in a peaceful home with patient owner(s), older children (haven’t seen her with young ones), and opportunities for plenty of exercise. Although we don’t hunt, she could definitely help you on yours. Dawn’s observant, curious, and protective (trained in barking appropriateness).

If you think you’d be a good match, just apply. We want what’s best for her and you may be it.

Dawn is available for adoption through Pet Tales Rescue in Grand Rapids, MI. Please go to www.pettalesrescue.com and fill out an application. Her adoption fee is $235 plus $15 for the microchip for a total of $250 payable by cash or card through the rescue’s website.

* Pet Tales Rescue does not have a physical shelter location as all of our pets are in foster homes. To meet Dawn or one of our other animals, you will need to fill out an application. After your application is reviewed, one of our volunteers will contact you to set up a time to meet the pet.

Thank you for adopting, not shopping!
